Former Linlithgow Academy pupil, Marc MacKinnon is working around the clock as he prepares to open his very own Edinburgh Festival show.
“I Got It: An Actor’s Tale” will premier on Thursday 9 August, at 7.70pm in Stockbridge Parish Church, Edinburgh.
“I think I underestimated the effort and hours that a big show like this takes, especially being used to just turning up to rehearsals and going through the motions. I have had to keep my head tightly screwed on.
“It’s been great to have so much support from my family especially, and also my Head teacher and local community and Fiona Hyslop. The show is really taking shape, now we have been in intensive rehearsals for a week and I hope it will be a night out to remember,” Marc told the Journal and Gazette.
Marc Has always been into performing, but it was after a role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “The likes of Us” that he decided he wanted to write his own show.
“ ‘The likes of us’ was the first show that Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice wrote together,” Marc revealed.
“Andrew Lloyd Webber was 17 at the time, but never staged it until 40 years after. Secretly, I wanted to do the same and stage my show when I was 18, just to cheekily one up Lord Webber,” he joked.
“It is the first time for me performing with my own company in the Fringe. Hopefully, somebody will love the show so much that they will produce a West End production of it and I will be rolling in the big bucks...but until then, I’ll just take in fully this amazing experience performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.”
MSP Fiona Hislop added: “I am always happy to take time to support local arts projects and encourage local talent. I would like to congratulate Marc and his cast on his production and wish them every success for future performances.”
“I Got It; An Actor’s Tale” Runs from August 9-11 with tickets priced at £10 for Adults and £8.50 for concessions.
