A fundraising campaign is underway for a young judo coach who is in a coma in a Vietnam hospital after suffering a serious head injury.

Stephanie Inglis (27) has been in the country teaching English for the last four months. The Commonwealth Games silver medallist was involved in a motorcycle accident last Tuesday.

She previously worked for Sportif Judo, teaching children’s classes in Linlithgow and in other locations, and now parents of students are involved in a campaign to help get her home. The appeal has raised £164,847 so far.

Local mum Ailsa Mackay said: “Many of the children here in Linlithgow and elsewhere had the opportunity to train with Steph and watch her at the Commonwealth Games. We are frantically fundraising to help with medical costs and raise the considerable funds required to bring her home.”
