Howgate launches literacy event
Running from February 11 to 20, it will feature talks by authors, storytelling sessions, crafts and competitions.
There will also be a chance to relax with a book, contribute to the literacy tree and find out more about what help is available to improve your reading skills.

Margaret Foy, Howgate marketing manager, said: “With so many shoppers being parents, it’s incredibly important to support them as much as we can and offer adults information and advice on literacy support in the Falkirk area.
“Let’s Read will highlight the importance and joy of reading by bringing stories to life with engaging, free family events based in our community hub.”
Scottish writers who will talk about their work include Karen Campbell, Jess Smith, Stuart Reid and Alan Bissett.

No new stock has been added since 2008 and people are asked to drop off books in good condition to the community hub or Howgate help desk by February 20. They will then be delivered by the Territorial Army on their next visit.
