Forth Road Bridge 50th anniversary

Tickets for trips up the tower of the Forth Road Bridge to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the bridge have almost sold out.

The initial allocation of 500 discounted tickets for people living in the EH and KY postcode areas sold out immediately.

A further 1000 tickets were offered at £120 in late October and these too are now almost sold out.

The Ultimate Bridge Experience, which also includes a look at the bridge’s cable anchorages, a boat trip and meal, priced at £180, also sold out and a further 48 tickets have been issued and will be released in due course.

Other events as part of the Forth Bridges Festival will include the torchlight procession which will take place on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at around 8.30pm.

The event, which is restricted to over-16s only, will be marketed as a 5k walk over the bridge and back again starting on the north side.

Participants will be charged a modest fee to cover the cost of torches while helping to raise cash for local causes.
