Home Office Immigration Enforcement carried out a raid at South Queensferry Registrar’s Office on Wednesday.
They arrived in town after receiving information that a relationship between two Indian nationals may not have been genuine.
After questioning by enforcement officers, the ceremony was allowed to go ahead as planned.
The operation was carried out with the full co-operation of the chief registrar.
A Home Office spokesman said: “All our operations are intelligence-led.
‘‘We have a duty to investigate allegations of immigration abuse when we receive them.”
