Increased foot patrols leads to reduction in house breakings

The Linlithgow Community Policing Team have been involved in a range of activities in the past month, all with a view to keeping you safe.

They have continued to conduct high visibility foot patrols at key times and locations to prevent domestic housebreakings. As a result I am pleased to report we have had no reports of break-ins to homes over the last month.

The new policing model has seen an increase in the time officers have been able to commit to foot patrol. Whilst out and about they have received very positive feedback from you in terms of the additional reassurance they are providing.

In addition you can also expect to see more officers out on bikes as our new community officers are completing training and being issued with cycling kit.

Officers have provided an input to pupils at Linlithgow Academy in relation to hate crime in response to ongoing issues at a local shop.

The community policing team were also involved in a week-long force wide operation to tackle bogus workman and doorstep crime. This operation was a huge success with 170 officials deployed over the week, including Trading Standards, HMRC, VOSA, DWP.

* 31 referrals to other agencies.

* 51 Road Traffic Offences detected.

* 3 arrests.

* 189 persons checked out by police and partner agencies.

* 227 vehicles stopped.

* 27 engagement events.

PC Peter Robertson will be delivering an input on bogus crime to a local elder persons group in April to help prevent people falling victim to such crime. There is also advice available on the Police Scotland website. Please report any suspicious activity to police on 101 and prevent criminals preying on the vulnerable in our society.

Over the forthcoming months officers will be visiting those convicted of violent crime to warn them regarding their future conduct.

PC Neil Gordon will be engaging with children at Linlithgow Bridge Primary School re safe cycling and general personal safety.

Officers will be receiving training in hand held speed devices in order that they can proactively target those areas where we receive the most complaints re speeding and dangerous/inconsiderate driving.
