CAREERS in travel and tourism for Journal and Gazette readers are up for grabs with courses at Stevenson College in Edinburgh.
Interviews come guaranteed for anyone who successfully completes the airport training scheme, delivered in conjunction with Servisair, for ground staff jobs.
Alison Chambers, associate principal in Business, Administration and Languages, said: “The Servisair Award in Airport Services and Ground Operations is a great addition to Stevenson’s portfolio and we’re delighted to be able to offer an opportunity that is directly linked with jobs, particularly in this difficult climate.
“Airports are exciting environments to work in and the job market is clearly increasingly competitive at the moment. This course will give people a significant advantage in securing a job and we expect it to be a huge success.”
The 12 week Award in Airport Services and Ground Operations begins on November 22, and combines study at the college with two full day site visits to Edinburgh Airport. Those who successfully complete the course will be interviewed by Servisair for a job starting in March 2012. Students who do not secure work with Servisair will be able to progress to the full-time NC Travel and Tourism course at Stevenson College Edinburgh in August 2012. The course will give learners experience and knowledge of a broad range of topics including ticketing, check-in, passenger boarding and arrivals.
