SCHOOL’S out for autumn but there’s plenty going on to keep youngsters amused.

The Low Port Centre’s School Holiday Activity Programme aimed at children aged 10 - 16 years old is on from Monday October 17 - Friday 21, with courses in a variety of activities both on and off the water and for those who can’t make up their mind, there’s a multi-activity course. Activities throughout the week include a multi-activity programme, biking, sailing and kayaking.

The courses are graded to suit a range of ages and abilities, and Low Port offer minibus pick-ups around West Lothian for some of them - contact 01506 775390 or visit for more details.

At Beecraigs Country Park, the great outdoors beckons with the Feed the Birds event on Saturday, October 15, from 1.30-3pm. The event is suitable for all and involves making bird feeders to take home to put up in your garden. Booking is advised and visitors should meet at the Park Centre, Beecraigs Country Park.

On Wednesday, October 19, the popular Red Deer Walk is back with guided tours around the animal attraction. The event offers families the chance to get up close to Britain’s largest mammal and learn about their life cycle. The Red Deer Walk takes place between 1.30-2.30pm and booking is essential.
