The boy who wouldn’t grow up is coming to South Queensferry in August.
The unforgettable story of Peter Pan, Wendy and Captain Hook will be brought to life by the Chapterhouse Theatre Company.
The Open Air Garden Tour will bring the magical island of Neverland to Hopetoun House on August 7 for the whole family to enjoy.
J.M. Barrie’s timeless classic has been adapted by award winning writer Laura Turner and will see our favourite children encounter enchanting mermaids, magical fairies and the cruellest pirate of them all, Captain Hook.
Laura said: “Peter Pan has been a favourite ever since I read it as a child and was first swept away to Neverland. I was entranced by it all – the mermaids, the Lost Boys and their fight with the pirates, Tiger Lily and her daring tribe of fearless warriors and of course, the thrilling spark of adventure between Peter and Wendy.
“I hope that in this adaptation we capture all the magic and wonder of the classic tale.”
Director Rebecca Gadsby said: “Peter Pan has been an absolute joy to work on. Spending days imagining pirate ships, crocodiles, fairies and mermaids has been a refreshing break from the usual historical research and character psychologies.
“For me, using your imagination is what Peter Pan is about – it’s a celebration of youth.
“This show does not do all the work for the audience.Adults and children alike will have to use their imagination to believe in the show. But that’s exactly how it should be in the theatre.”
