DUCKS will fight their way to first place in the sixth annual Linlithgow Duck Race on Monday, June 6.
The much loved event has raised over £15,000 for local causes and has become one of the most popular events within the town’s civic programme in the lead up to the Linlithgow Marches.
The Deacons Court and the Children’s Gala Day have benefited each year from a substantial donation. The Reed Band has received a welcome boost for their uniform fund over the last three years, and the Rotary Club of Linlithgow and Bo’ness is grateful to local businesses who have donated the prizes. They include a full car service from Hunters of Linlithgow, a bouquet of flowers from Flowers by Carolyn, a meal voucher for The Park Bistro, a bucket of booze from Platform 3, and a multi-tool by Linlithgow DIY. Ducks priced only £2 are available at Robert Callander, The Linlithgow Book Shop, Flowers by Carolyn, Platform 3, Black Bitch, The Rose Club and Linlithgow Rugby Club.
As well as the peoples’ race there is also the commercial race with prizes including an advertising board at both Prestonfield and Mains Park for the coming season, an invitation to ride the Marches (with the Rotary Club) and to join the official party at the Linlithgow and Linlithgow Bridge Children’s Gala Day. Ducks in the commercial race cost £25 and application forms are available from Platform 3.
The duck race will take off at 7pm at the Lochmill Burn.
