A local primary school quiz team are cock-a-hoop at having beaten 17 other school teams to come second in this year’s 2015 Euroquiz challenge.
Carmondean Primary School held off the team from Linlithgow Primary in a nail-biting final round, pushing them into a very creditable second place.
Nineteen schools attended the West Lothian heats of the popular challenge, organised by the Scottish European Educational Trust.
Executive councillor for culture and leisure, Dave King said: “Everyone did so well in what was another extremely challenging event.
“The organisers and guests were really impressed with the knowledge which the teams displayed.
“The final round was extremely exciting to watch, with Carmondean Primary School just pipping Linlithgow Primary School.”
Charlette Robertson, head teacher said: “Our school takes part in the Euro Quiz each year and it is always a great learning experience for the children as they have to research Europe in class and take part in a mini challenge first, in order to be chosen.
“Our P6 competed with schools from across the authority and had the highest score overall – they then challenged Carmondean Primary School in the final and lost 7/6.
“The children received certificates, water bottles and notebooks; we are all very proud of them in school.”
