THE Lion Well footbridge over the railway line at Linlithgow was replaced last Sunday.

Trains did not operate through the town on the day to allow Network Rail to erect the new bridge (pictured), and also replace some of the railtracks. The new bridge was needed to facilitate electrification of the line as part of the Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Project, and is painted green in keeping with the conservation area.

The old footbridge will be offered to a local rail conservation society. Photograph submitted by Morag Day, Royal Terrace.
