A meeting is taking place later this month to gauge the interest in a skate park being included in the plans for the Kettilstoun Community Hub.

The Linlithgow Skatepark Appeal has been on the go since 2004 and has always pressed for a place for skateboarders and BMX riders to be built in Linlithgow.

A spokesman for the group said: “We made our first application in 2004 but we have had lots of setbacks.
“We have had planning permission given and taken away from us, trouble with funds and then loss of interest when the process was taking too long.”

However, when the plans for the Kettilstoun Community Hub project were revealed the group saw an opportunity to have a skate park included.

The group spokesman said: “At the meeting there will be a designer to discuss what the park could look like, how big it will be and where.

“We need more people in the community to show their support. It does not matter if they would use the park or if they are just sick of us skating outside their house.

“We need to show this is something the whole community wants.”

A petition can be signed online showing support for the skate park via the Facebook page.

The meeting on April 19 in the lounge beside the library is at 8pm.
