Torphichen is getting ready to welcome a new minister and the outgoing reverend believes he will be made very welcome.
Ken Mackay has been present at Torphichen Kirk every Sunday for the past two years, however his time as locum minister is coming to an end.
In early August Rev. Alan Greig will take over as interim minister.
Ken (75) said: “I have had a fantastic two years in Torphichen. The people are loving, welcoming and there is a strong community spirit in the village.
“I have confidence that my successor will be welcomed with open arms by the people of Torphichen.”
During his time in the village Ken has enjoyed three gala days, saw three gala queens crowned and been part of many coffee mornings and community events.
He said: “It has been great fun, the people really get behind and support their events which make them much more enjoyable.”
Ken’s last service will be on August 7 and the Livingston resident said it has been an unforgettable experience working in Torphichen.
He said: “It has been a privilege to work here.”
Ken can now look forward to retirement and the minister says he has plenty to fill his time.
He said: “There will be plenty to keep me busy, the garden always needs looked after.”
Despite moving on to new pastures, Ken said he hopes to keep in touch with members of his congregation and will come back for the big events in Torphichen.
