local school girl Caitlin Jamieson rubbed shoulders with celebrities last week after bagging the top prize in a prestigous modelling contest.

Caitlin (15) was named ‘Scotland’s New Face 2011’ at the Scottish Fashion Awards where she mixed with Dame Shirley Bassey, Prime Minister’s wife Samantha Cameron, and had her picture taken with Lulu.

The fifth-year pupil at Linlithgow Academy said: “I was so excited when I won but really shocked. It was really strong competition. It didn’t actually sink in till about five hours afterwards and I really enjoyed the night. ”

Caitlin had no modelling experience before the contest and had never heard of ‘Scotland’s New Face’ until she was spotted when shopping in Warehouse in Livingston in May.

She added: “I didn’t even know it existed. But I thought I’ve got nothing to lose. Then I found out I was in the top 16 and got to do a photoshoot which I really enjoyed. Getting into the final four meant I got to go to the Scottish Fashion Awards, and I enjoyed it so much it makes me think I want to do modelling when I’m older.”

Caitlin’s prize winnings include a year’s modelling contract with Select Model management in London, £1000 worth of Warehouse vouchers, the use of a Smart car for a year, and goodies from top names such as Toni and Guy and make-up guru Bobbi Brown.

The family - mum Linda, dad James and sister Sarah (10) - who live in Springfield are very proud of their girl.

Linda said: “She’s the girl next door from a small town, and she’s taking it in her stride. Her friends and family are so excited for her.”
