This year’s must-see musical extravaganza arrives in West Lothian over the weekend of August 9 and 10 - and if you want to be a part of it, you’ll have to be quick and snap up the few remaining tickets.

‘‘Party at the Palace’’ is the brainchild of music promotors PDF Promotions, whose aim is to tie in with Scotland’s Homecoming 2014 celebrations.

The prospect of such a festival which celebrates Scottish music over the past 30 years has clearly struck a chord with the public and is already close to being a sell-out event.

Caroline Packman, the director of Homecoming Scotland, said: “The Year of Homecoming presents a great opportunity to place the spotlight on some of our greatest assets and icons, so what better way to celebrate this than to have a summer music festival against the the backdrop of the majestic Royal Palace.

“I’m sure the festival will offer locals and visitors to the area a fun-packed and memorable weekend.”

The Journal and Gazette reported earlier this year that top Scots bands Deacon Blue and Simple Minds had been unveiled as the headline acts for this summer’s sizzling lineup, along with Hue and Cry, Attic Lights, The Silencers, The Bluebells and Horse McDonald.

The gates open Saturday and Sunday at 1pm with the music commencing at 2pm with the final crashing chords expected by 10pm on both days.
