Tony Christie is fast approaching his 50th anniversary in the music industry and to celebrate, he has embarked on a 50-date UK tour to celebrate.
Falkirk Town Hall, on Thursday, June 9, is one of only a handful of Scottish dates.
He’s had top twenty hits all around the world with “Las Vegas”, “Every Word She Said” and “Is This the Way to Amarillo” which sold over one and a half million copies on its re-release in 2005. Sold to raise money for Comic Relief, it reached number one for seven weeks, achieved the highest sales for a number one for the year and is still the biggest selling single of the century!
Tony Christie’s UK tour celebrates his 50th anniversary in music and the release of his new album, ‘Now’s The Time!’
Released through Acid Jazz Records, ‘Now’s The Time!’ sees Tony Christie going back to his soulful, musical roots, featuring collaborations with Jarvis Cocker and Roisin Murphy amongst others.
The album picks up from where the critically acclaimed ‘Made In Sheffield’ (2008) left off.
His live shows will showcase tracks from ‘Now’s The Time!’ along with all the hits and songs that Tony Christie is synonymous with.
The first single to be released from the album, ‘Nobody In The World’, is a northern soul British beat tour de force, a stomping love song that cleverly takes this much in vogue sound and blends it with the classic Christie sound.
‘Now’s The Time!’ is the follow up to his 2008 critically acclaimed release ‘Made In Sheffield’ that saw the renowned singer revered for his “everlasting voice” (Clash) and “triumphant return” (The Times), “Christie is cool again…” (Evening Standard).
After touring he returned to the studio to record the new album with producer Richard Barrett from All Seeing I.
Most recently Tony Christie has fulfilled a long life dream to appear in the West End as he debuted in ‘Dreamboats & Petticoats’ to rave reviews.
Astrid Shearer, Marketing Officer for FTH said: “Tony Christie has arguably made the album of his career, showcasing his iconic status as one of Britain’s greatest singers, and we [at FTH] are delighted that he’ll be touring to our local area.”
