New social policy head at West Lothian Council

FORMER secondary school teacher Jennifer Scott has been made chief of social policy at West Lothian Council.

Jennifer has been acting head since September 2010 and is responsible for all council social work services and health improvement within the Community Health and Care Partnership.

After beginning her career as a teacher in Strathclyde she joined Lothian Region in 1992 as a residential child care officer in Bathgate Young People’s Centre, while doing social work training. Jennifer held various management positions in the area of children and families before becoming senior manager in 2006.
