POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road collision involving a motorcycle and a car near Kirkliston on Sunday.
The head-on collision happened about 1.15pm near the Almondhill Cottages on the Burnshot Road.
The 30-year-old man, who was riding the Honda CBR motorbike east towards Cramond, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name had still not been released by police as the Journal and Gazette went to press (Thursday). The driver of the Subaru Legacy was not injured.
The Carlowrie Road between Cramond Brig and Kirkliston was closed for around three hours while investigations were carried out at the scene.
Acting Sergeant Andy Gibb of Lothian and Borders Police said: “We are currently working to establish exactly what happened that afternoon, and are still appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time, and who saw what happened to come forward.”
