BB Notes: Camping and football finals

Skipper Walter Williamson tells me of his planned camp for 2nd Bo'ness (St Andrew's Church), again this year at Seahouses in Nothumberland, from 25th June to 2nd July.

Twenty-four boys will be attending the site at Springhill Farm, ideally situated for its facilities, its proximity to the beach and sports-field and only a mile from the village. He pays tribute to local businesses supporting the company by supplying gas, cooking materials, vegetables and transport. The generosity of these traders and the commitment of parents and staff keep costs to a minimum and enable a camp to be put together at all. ‘Culturally’ this year boys will visit the RAF Boulmer HQ, the site of the Air Surveillance and Control System Force and the RAF School of Aerospace Battle Management.

8th Falkirk (Bainsford Church) are also off to a traditional BB Camp from July 14 to 22, but not as I mentioned earlier to a previous site at Lancaster but to a new site at Whitby. Their Juniors too are also off for a weekend of activities from May 27 to 29 to the Dalguise Centre in Perthshire.

Speaking of ‘camping’, two teams taking part in the battalion hosted National BB five-a-sides this Saturday at the Grangemouth Sports Complex, are being catered for in the church halls at Bainsford and Larbert Old.

Final arrangements are in hand for entertaining six teams from Gourock, Greenock, Hinkley, Tonbridge, Greenisland and Saintfield, being the Scottish, English and Northern Ireland representatives who will after deciding the outcome of the UK Trophy, be entertained by Falkirk Council at Abbotsinch Hotel where the Provost Pat Reid will welcome the visitors to the area, who earlier will have visited the Wheel and the Kelpies.
