THIS week’s photograph harks back to Friday, November 13, 1987.

The Linlithgow Burgh branch of the SNP honoured its former chairman Alex Salmond, as the newly-elected MP for Banff and Buchan.

He won the seat at the General Election on June 11, 1987. Alex Salmond, now the First Minister of Scotland and his wife, Moira, were presented with a painting of Linlithgow Palace and a bouquet of flowers.

The presentation was made by local SNP councillor Jimmy McGinley.

Included in the photograph are Jimmy McGinley and his wife Ruby, Alex’s parents Robert and Mary Salmond and their neighbour Nan Borthwick, and SNP activists Peter Johnston, Jim Burns, Ann Leslie and Murdoch Kennedy.

The photograph was submitted by Murdoch Kennedy, Linlithgow Bridge.
