Sad news from Linlithgow Jazz

Two of Linlithgow Jazz’s longest standing regulars have sadly passed away.

Philip and Sheila Whitehead will be known to many of you, particularly those who used to come back in the Burgh Hall days.

They were well known all over the town and, even when they both became unwell they still tried to come to as many events as they could, sitting quietly at the back of the hall and even occasionally managing a slow dance.

Bill Marshall was a firm favourite and it was always a joy to see Sheila light up when he launched into “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!”.

They were a lovely couple who were married over 60 years.

With the current restrictions in place, there is a private joint cremation service on Tuesday, October 20, where there will be a representative from Linlithgow Jazz.

The cortege will leave Barons Hill Avenue at 12.20pm and will go along the High Street, pausing outside the Cancer Research UK shop where Sheila was a volunteer. If anyone would like to pay their respects they can line the route – at Sheila’s request, please wear bright colours!

The service will also be live streamed – for more information, click here

There is also a link there to donations, the family are hoping to erect a bench and plant two trees in their memory.
