Candied Ice Cream Parlour, which has branches in Grangemouth, Denny and Rumford, pulled out all the stops to celebrate the hospice’s milestone and donated all of its profits from yesterday’s takings – at all three premises – to the famous palliative care specialist.

Owner Amrit Dhillon thanked his customers for their support, which saw the total raised top his £4000 target by some way – leading him to round off the figure to £5000.

Mr Dhillon said: “Last night’s total was an incredible £4312.30 which we will round up to £5000. Thank you to everyone who took the time to order yesterday, without your support we could not have realised such a huge sum of money.

“We are humbled, grateful and delighted that we could all unite in the spirit of giving to help such a vital facility such as Strathcarron. There is nothing purer in the human condition than serving those who are less fortunate than ourselves and yesterday that’s exactly what we all did.

"A wonderful union between Candied and the community which is not the first and certainly won’t be the last.”

He went on to thank the team at Candied’s three branches.

“Each and everyone of them did themselves, the community and the business proud,” he said. “I am overwhelmed with their hard work and commitment. Great to see young stars of the future making such amazing contributions to their community.

Last night was the perfect example of what can be achieved by working together. Happy 40th birthday Strathcarron.”

Mr Dhillon has been supporting Strathcarron Hospice and its vital work since 2015 after his father Harry sadly died there in that year.

A spokesperson for Strathcarron said: “We are so grateful to Candied Ice Cream Parlour who are making this incredibly kind gesture tomorrow to mark our 40th birthday.”

A year ago the Candied parlours came out of lockdown and raised an amazing £5500 for Strathcarron by donating the day’s takings.
