Residents of Newcarron Court Care Home, in Ronades Road, already had a colourful outdoor winter wonderland to look at thanks to care home administrator Jane Inglis and staff and Falkirk Round Table added to that warm festive feeling when their annual Santa sleigh stopped off while it was on its rounds.

COVID-19 restrictions mean residents cannot have Christmas decorations inside the care home, so Jane and the team adapted to the situation with their outdoor display.

The Round Table's Santa sleigh run has also had to adapt with the times in 2020.

Last year’s initiative managed to coin in over £15,000 and saw Round Table members join Santa to collect cash door to door over a number of nights.

This year, with the current coronavirus restrictions, Santa and his sleigh will still be able to travel the streets, but his helpers will not be able to knock on doors to coin in generous donations.

A Falkirk Round Table spokesman said: “Due to coronavirus restrictions we can’t go door to door for our normal collections, so could people please spare two minutes to donate to our Just Giving page.

“Our target this year is a massive £15,000 and we need your help.”

The sleigh hits the streets of Canalside (Thursday, December 3) and Lionthorn/Hallglen (Sunday, December 6).

Then the following week Santa can be seen in Shieldhill (Monday, December 7), Rosebank (Tuesday, December 8), Camelon (Wednesday, December 9), Tamfourhill (Thursday, December 10) and Lady Anne Gate (Sunday, December 13).

In the third week it will visit Bainsford and Langlees (Monday, December 14), Bantaskine (Tuesday, December 15), Middlefield (Wednesday, December 16) and The Bog (Thursday, December 17).

Falkirk Round Table added: “Please remember we cannot allow kids to come within two metres of the sleigh and we are also prohibited from stopping – so if Santa does miss your waves it’s not on purpose.”

This year all the funds raised will be going to help Strathcarron Hospice, Falkirk Food Bank, and Falkirk Mental Health Association (FDAMH).
