West Lothian school term dates set for next two years

Revised term dates for both the 2020/21 and 2021/22 primary and secondary school years in West Lothian have been agreed.

The current school year started four days earlier than expected in West Lothian, with all Scottish schools starting back on August 11.

Following consultation on how to allocate the additional four days holiday it has been agreed to: add an additional day to the October break, so pupils will return on Wednesday, October 21; begin the Christmas break two days early, so pupils will finish for the holidays on December 18; and add an additional day to the February break so pupils will return on Thursday, February 18.

All other dates for the 2020/21 are unchanged for pupils.

In-service days for staff take place on: Monday 11 August 2020; Tuesday 20 October 2020; Tuesday 5 January 2021 and Thursday 6 May 2021.

For the 2021/22 term, pupils will return August 17, 2021, before finishing up on September 17, 2021. Following the September break, pupils return on September 22 until October 8. Pupils will then return from the October holiday on October 19. The term finishes on December 22. Pupils resume on January 6, 2022 and finish on February 11. They return on February 16 and break for Easter on April 1. Term three last from April 19 through to June 24, with pupils off on Monday, May 2, Thursday, May 5 and one of either Monday, May 23, Monday, June 6 or Tuesday, June 14, depending on where in West Lothian you live.

In-service days for staff take place on: Monday 16 August 2021, Tuesday 21 September 20201, Monday 18 October 2021; Wednesday 5 January 2022 and Thursday 5 May 2022.
