PET Idol 2012 winner Skye’s owners were thrilled recently to receive a canvas print of their treasured pooch.

The four-year-old blue and white Staffordshire bull terrier was the voters’ favourite in the Journal and Gazette contest, run in partnership with Rhoddy Stewart Photography of Bo’ness.

Photographer Rhoddy handed over the prize - worth £300 - at his North Street studio to Lisa and Scott Johnston of Newtown, Bo’ness, plus children Amy-Leigh (8), Cerys (3) and Jamie (11).

The family love Skye’s portrait, with Lisa saying: “It’s an amazing picture, absolutely fantastic. We’ve put it in the living room, right in the middle of the wall in pride of place.”

She added: “I’d like to thank everybody for voting for Skye, plus Burns the Butchers where she gets her special treats and The Dogs Paws, who bath her and do her teeth.”

Lisa said: “We are over the moon and can’t thank Rhoddy and his team enough.”

Skye, described as a ‘brilliant dog’, was the victor from the 73 animals entered into this year’s contest.

Carry Anderson, owner of runner-up and fellow canine Rocky, was awarded a £45 print.
