plans set to make a splash at Linlithgow Canal Basin have been withdrawn.
A planning application from British Waterways Scotland (BWS) to change the existing leisure moorings to six permanent residential moorings on the Union Canal at Station Road was submitted to West Lothian Council a few weeks ago. But complaints flooded in and the plans were withdrawn.
Stewart Liddle of the Linlithgow Union Canal Society (LUCS) is delighted adding: “It is to be hoped that suitable locations for moorings can now be identified which LUCS could support. In that way our mutual interest in the future of the canal system as a useable and used resource may be taken forward.”
