Police guard as Rejects store in Kirkcaldy closes after a death

Flowers have been placed at an entrance to a busy Kirkcaldy store which remains closed after a death yesterday. The death of a 62-year old man is being treated as “unexplained.”

Rejects Department Store, one of the town’s biggest retailers, closed on Friday afternoon following a bereavement.

Police had a presence at its entrance leading to the main car park, with shoppers turned away.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.20pm on Friday, officers were called to a report of a man taking unwell at a premises on St Clair Street, Kirkcaldy.

Emergency services attended, however the 62-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances.”
