Three thugs leaped from a 4X4 vehicle and began punching and kicking a 29-year-old man in Broxburn’s Easter Road on Sunday afternoon.

Appealing for witnesses, police say damage to the vehicle may help them snare the suspects.

Police are urging anyone who can help to trace those responsible to come forward.

They are described as white, in their twenties and wore hooded tops.

The trio got back in the 4X4 and drove off after the attack, which happened at 3pm.

Detective Inspector Steven Bertram said: “The victim suffered a number of painful injuries, but declined medical attention.

“We are now conducting various lines of inquiry to trace those responsible.

“We believe the vehicle the suspects used may have sustained damage to its windscreen and wing mirror, and so anyone who spots this car is also urged to contact police immediately.”
