POLICE are urgently appealing for witnesses after thieves made off with jewellery and cash in a spree of Linlithgow house break-ins this week.

Between 7pm and 9pm on Tuesday, three homes in Baillielands, Oatlands Park and Deanburn Road were entered, and various items including cash and jewellery were taken. Officers believe the incidents are linked, and that those responsible may also have been involved in other recent housebreakings in South Queensferry, including the Dundas Castle Golf Club.

A police spokesman said: “The victims of these crimes have all been left devastated by the break-ins to their homes and the theft of their possessions. We are keen to identify and trace the culprits as soon as possible and anyone with information that can assist with our enquiries is asked to contact police immediately.

“Homeowners and tenants are reminded to always ensure their property is properly secured and that valuables are stored in a safe location out of sight.

“Members of our communities who witness any suspicious activity in or around a neighbour’s property should report the matter to police.”

Anyone with information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers in complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
