Zoe's flag design wins Falkirk Provost's lockdown competition

Falkirk High pupil Zoe Wallace is flying the flag for the town after winning a competition organised by Provost Billy Buchanan.

He asked people to design a flag to represent each of the wards in the district as a bit of fun to beat the lockdown blues.

Zoe's colourful design was judged to be the best by leading local historian Ian Scott, winning her £100 and a certificate.

She was presented with these by the Provost outside Falkirk's Municipal Buildings in a socially distanced ceremony.

Provost Buchanan said he was sorry that the other finalists, who received their certificates and flags at the weekend, could not join them due to Covid regulations.

He also thanked Mr Scott for judging all of the entries.

The other winners are: Grangemouth, Iona Gillies; Denny & Banknock, D’arcy Dhanda; Carse, Kinnaird & Tryst, Emily Forsyth; Bonnybridge & Larbert, Cameron Rae; Falkirk South, Katherine Davidson; Upper Braes, Dakota Booth.
