Craig McCorriston has been appointed as West Lothian Council’s new head of planning and economic development services.
His new role will see him take responsibility for a number of key areas, including planning services, economic development, climate change, education planning and environment health and trading standards.
Craig started his career as a planner with Bedfordshire County Council in 1986, before joining West Lothian District Council in 1994. He transferred to West Lothian Council following local government re-organisation in 1996, where he most recently held the role of planning services manager.
He lives in Linlithgow with his wife and their two children and enjoys photography, fishing and travelling in his free time.
Craig said: “I’m delighted to take on the role as head of planning and economic development. It’s a challenging time for the council as we work to facilitate economic growth and improve the way we deliver services to our customers.”
Chief executive Graham Hope said: “I would like to welcome Craig to his new role. He brings a wide range of knowledge and experience to the job, and I’m confident he will play a key role in developing the services we deliver.”
