Falkirk MSP Angus MacDonald's tribute to Michelle Thomson as she succeeds him

He welcomed Michelle Thomson’s victory in this week’s election which retained the seat for the SNP as it returned to govern for a fourth successive term.
Mr MacDonald was part of the town’s political scene for almost 30 years.

Hide AdFirst elected to Falkirk District Council in 1992 he returned to serve the local authority following a by-election in December 2004, joining the SNP/Independent administration controlling the council at the time.
He was elected to the Scottish Parliament in 2011.
He said: “I am delighted to see Michelle take up the baton. I know I’m passing the seat on to a safe pair of hands and a first class Parliamentarian.
“Michelle will hit the ground running when she enters Holyrood, and I look forward to watching progress on the recovery and the transition to net-zero in Falkirk district through her joint working with neighbouring MSP colleague Michael Matheson, Falkirk Council and local industry”.
