Preparations are well in hand for Bridgend gala day on Saturday, August 2.
Queen-elect Courtney Kelly (12) is becoming more excited - and slightly more nervous - with each passing day but is certain she’ll be fine for the village’s ‘‘grand day out’’.
‘‘I’m very excited, I can’t wait,’’ she told the Journal and Gazette this week.
Meanwhile her mum, Donna, paid tribute to their extended family who have worked wonders to ensure preparations have been seamless since Courtney was chosen queen-elect in February.
‘‘Her dad, Gary, has worked wonders as has the whole extended family and I’d also like to single out David and Moira Smart for all they have done.’’
Courtney’s brother, Dylan (7), is a Scottish soldier on the big day and chief lady in waiting Sarah Marr is also anticipating a great gala day.
Added mum Donna: ‘‘Work had been progressing well on Courtney’s arch until the weather broke on Tuesday but everything will be in place come August 2 I’m sure.’’
