Local audiences are in for a treat as the Linlithgow Players bring the story of Puss in Boots to life, in the annual pantomime.
The amateur dramatics group are known to delight crowds with their delivery and stage presence, and this year is set to be no different.
The well known feline, made famous recently with the ‘Shrek’ films, will be hitting the stage at Linlithgow Academy Theatre next month.
Laura Neary, chairman of Linlithgow Players, said: “It’s a very family friendly show and is funny for all ages.
“There will be children as young as two or three as well as people who have been coming to see our shows for over 20 years.
“There’s lots of Linlithgow humour, we talk about Linlithgow Rose and there’s plenty of local anecdotes in the scripts.
“Local kids will be in the children’s chorus and they’re singing pop songs like Olly Murs, Dance With Me Tonight.”
The story is set in Amsterdam and there is a whole host of characters to take the audience on an adventure with the lovable rogue, Puss, and his magic boots.
There is no pantomime dame this year but there is a pair of villains who will incite the usual hissing and booing from the crowd.
The play is by John Morley and the amateur production is by arrangement with the National Operatic and Dramatic Association.
The show runs for three nights from Thursday, January 14 at Linlithgow Academy Theatre on Braehead Road.
Laura said the matinee performance always sells out quickly but there are still plenty of tickets available.
Tickets, priced between £5-10, can be bought at www.list.co.uk/event/510945-puss-in-boots or by calling the Linlithgow Players ticket line on 07847 735077. If no one answers, leave a message and someone in the team will get back to you.
