Pupils and staff mourned the sudden passing of one of their most popular teachers.

David Ritchie, died in Hospital after suffering a heart attack leaving fellow staff at Queensferry Community High School in shock.

Having come out of retirement in 2011 to help cover classes, the maths teacher was also an invigilator during exam time.

Staff at the school fondly remember David as a calm, caring and thoughtful man.

They said: “He was well respected by staff and pupils.”

David was a keen walker himself and enjoyed taking the children up the hills as part of the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.

The ex-car mechanic would give anyone help with their car if they needed it, however would never meddle with his own.

Staff said: “His love of car mechanics was plain to see, especially as many of his math lessons were linked to the subject in some way.”

Head teacher John Wood said: “David would always stop to speak to you if he passed you in the hall.”
