Amateur bakers in West Lothian have raised dough for two good causes.

West Lothian Baking Club’s charity bake off, hosted by Cafe La Ronda in Linlithgow, raised £425 for breast cancer and meningitis charities.

The event attracted around 30 individual entries and 40 interested amateur bakers turned up for the much-anticipated judging on Wednesday, June 25.

Margaret Meikle from Ecclesmachan’s Women’s Rural Institute and Keri Zaczek of The BaKeri in Falkirk had the unenviable task of picking the winners.

Gillian Brown from West Lothian Baking Club said it was a great evening with ‘‘some amazing cakes’’.

And judge Keri added: ‘‘The standard was very high and it was tough picking the winners.’’

Linda Martin of Cafe La Ronda said: ‘‘We were really pleased to host the West Lothian Bake Off.

‘‘It was really good fun as well as supporting two important Scottish charities.’’

Charities benefiting were Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Meningitis Now.
