Businesses on Linlithgow High Street are bracing themselves as road repairs restart on Monday.
The road upgrade started last summer is now in the second phase - repairing stone setts where the High Street joins the cobbled stones at the east of the Cross. Temporary traffic lights will be in place while work is ongoing, but will be removed for the Jousting event at Linlithgow Peel on July 6 and 7. Full road closure will not be necessary.
In May 2012, council officers were forced to apologise as work to repair street setts, west of the Cross was significantly delayed, leading to bitter complaints from local businesses. But this time, the work will be done by private contractors JH Civil Engineering Ltd, with extended working hours from 7am-8pm.
A West Lothian Council spokesman said: “We have made every effort to limit disruption where possible, such as cutting the natural stone materials off-site in advance of the works starting. However queues are likely.”
