A jubilant Alex Salmond is this week back in Westminster and once again centre stage in politics.
Just months after stepping down as SNP leader, he swept to victory in the Gordon constituency in north-east Scotland - giving Linlithgow not one but two members in the House of Commons!
The former First Minister of Scotland said: ‘‘There is a swing under way in Scotland the like of which has not been seen in recorded politics,” he said.
“It is an extraordinary statement of intent from the people of Scotland.
‘‘The Scottish lion has roared this morning across the country.”
Gordon result: Scottish National Party, Alex Salmond, 27,717 votes, 47.7 per cent share of the total vote; Liberal Democrat, Christine Jardine, 19,030 votes; Conservative, Colin Clark 6807 votes; Labour, Braden Davy 3,441 votes ; UKIP, Emily Santos, 1166 votes.
