Drivers are being advised to plan journeys due to roadworks on the M8 ahead of closures to slip roads starting tonight.
Overnight maintenance to improve the road surface on both lanes of the eastbound M8 from Junction 4 at East Whitburn to Junction 3a, Bathgate, will take place between 9pm and 6am from tonight until Monday.
A further overnight closure will take place from 9pm on Wednesday, September 2 until 6am the following morning. There will be a full carriageway closure while the work is taking place, but lane 2 will reopen to traffic outwith these times, from 6am to 8pm. Lane 1 will be closed for the duration of the work.
The Junction 4 eastbound on slip will also be closed for the duration of the works. Around 30,000 vehicles use the stretch of road every day.
A signed diversion via the A801/A7066/A779 will be in place while the roads are closed.
A spokesperson for Amey said: “We apologise for any inconvenience and would ask road users to plan their journey accordingly.
“This maintenance scheme been has planned in consultation with Police Scotland and West Lothian Council.”
The works are costing around £390,000.
