Kinneil Estate will travel back in time to the 1st Century AD as Roman centurions march into town today (Saturday).
The annual Big Roman Day, which runs from 1pm to 4pm, launches the nine-day Big Roman Week festival and features the well-drilled members of the Antonine Guard re-enactment group, who will be setting up camp near Kinneil Museum and putting on displays of military activities almost two thousand years in the making.
Historic Kinneil House, which is built on the line of the world famous Antonine Wall, will also be open for free tours.
Children will be able to dress up as Romans and make crowns, swords and badges, take part in archery sessions and wander the various stalls with their parents.
