Rotarians boost for Marches

Lochmill Burn annual duck race
Lochmill Burn annual duck race

The organisers of this week’s ‘fowl’ event at Lochmill Burn say it was quacking good fun and will raise much-needed funds for the Linlithgow Marches and the Gala Day.

This year 1000 ducks were entered in the people’s race and 87 in the business race.

Ducks were released at 7pm and the first 10 who made it past the finish line won prizes donated by Hunters of Linlithgow, Park Bistro, Platform 3, Flowers by Carolyn and Linlithgow DIY. This year the sponsors doubled up on prizes to mark what is an important anniversary.

Linlithgow and Bo’ness Rotary Club announced that the 10th annual duck race winners were: Rory Cameron (car service from Hunters), John Graham bucket of booze Platform 3), Tricia Russell (Park Bistro voucher), Ailsa McKay (Flowers from Carolyn), Neil McDonald (voucher Linlithgow DIY), Alex Martin (two cases of wine Platform 3), Carolyn McSherry (Flowers from Carolyn), Christine Sneddon (Park Bistro voucher), Ruth Young (voucher - Linlithgow DIY) and Mary Young (rally jacket - Hunters).

Turf Irrigation Services (Scotland) Limited of Mill Road Industrial Estate clearly had some insider knowledge as their duck won the Business Race.

Last year the Duck Race raised £3500.
