Despite being able to circumnavigate the world in an evening, poor old Santa’s journey was brought to an abrupt halt last weekend when he came up against the vagaries of the Scottish weather in Queensferry, forcing him to abandon plans for a tour of the town.
The much-anticipated Santa tours, organised and run by South Queensferry Rotary Club, came up against yet another day of gale-force winds, and, with the sleigh already having suffered a soaking at New Hopetoun Garden Centre on Saturday December 14, the sound system was struggling to play anything remotely recognisable as a festive tune.
Due to the damage the sleigh had suffered, a new sound system had to be located and fitted on Monday, in order that the tours could start again.
The club decided that in order not to disappoint the many children who take part in the tours, it would be better to cancel the planned visit to the Echline area. This was rescheduled and took place on Tuesday evening
The sleigh’s final outing will be at Scotmid tomorrow (Sat) and Tesco on Sunday.
