CHILDREN at Torphichen Primary did their bit to save the planet when they took part in a WWF Earth Hour event last month.
Teacher Marnie Ferguson at Torphichen Primary School said: “Primary five, six and seven presented an assembly to the school and parents to inform them about when and why WWF were organising this event on March 26.
“The whole school came dressed in bright clothes and for one hour the school switched off all unnecessary electrical equipment to mark this event. This included the switching off of smartboards, laptops, photocopiers, printers, lights etc.”
Primary five, six and seven have previously studied the rainforest as a project and have joined the Prince’s Rainforests Project. Organisation of the Earth Hour event allowed them to achieve the final level on the award scheme, making them Rainforest Guardians.
