HIGH Street favourites Schuh challenged secondary school pupils across West Lothian to get their skates on and design their own footwear.
The Schuh Design Challenge 2012 at Howden Park Centre is in its 16th year and was organised by West Lothian Council’s community youth services team, and sponsored by the Livingston-based footwear company. Pupils were hoping to win a spending spree at Schuh as well as the Schuh Design Challenge trophy.
Moira Niven, depute chief executive at West Lothian Council, said: “We would like to thank Schuh for their continued sponsorship of this excellent challenge.
The high standard and creativity of the designs impresses me each year. West Lothian has a wealth of talented and creative young people and this competition is a fantastic showcase for them.”
Local winners from Linlithgow Academy (pictured) were Katie Slesser (1), Nuala Ramage (2) and Margot Veuve (3). The overall winners also included Callum Miller, an S3 pupil at St Kentigern’s Academy who came third, and Shannon Fleider from St Kentigern’s who was given a special award for presentation.
Neil Blackburn, marketing manager at Schuh added: “The Schuh Design Challenge 2012 was a huge success with all of the participants producing work to an incredibly high standard.’’
