SCOTRAIL has announced its biggest-ever Edinburgh Festivals timetable – including more late night trains for Journal and Gazette revellers.
As well as additional carriages on many existing services, Sunday morning services between Glasgow and Edinburgh will be increased during August.
Steve Montgomery, ScotRail’s managing director, said: “We hope our expanded timetable will mean that even more customers will enjoy the Edinburgh Festivals this year.”
A late night train has been added at 12.30am from Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street and will run seven days a week from August 4-26, calling at Linlithgow and Polmont.
This is over and above the 12.01am service from Edinburgh to Glasgow. Extra Sunday services from Glasgow Queen Street leave at 10.05am, 10.57am and 12.10pm.
For festival-goers in Queensferry, ScotRail will provide an additional train to Dundee leaving at 11.52pm on Fridays throughout August.
Transport Minister Keith Brown said: “These additional services provided by ScotRail will make it easier than ever for people to enjoy the festivals without having to worry about getting there and getting home.”
