Residents are being urged to take full advantage of the Scout Christmas card postal delivery service which is now under way.
Everybody is used to the Scouts chipping in and contributing and this wonderful act of assistance from the youngsters is in its seventh year. And they are hoping it will be just as successful as the last six.
The scouts delivered in excess of 9,500 cards last year and with the public’s help they are confident they can smash the 10k barrier.
Over the next couple of weeks the 4th West Lothian Scout Group will collect, sort and deliver the cards on the weekends of December 10 and 11, and 17 and 18.
Since last Thursday residents have been able to drop off cards destined for addresses in the EH49 area such as Linlithgow, Blackness, Threemiletown, Philpstoun, Bridgend and Whitecross.
There are various collection points in the town and costs only 25 pence per card – cheaper than a first class stamp which costs 64p.
There is still time to drop off cards if the public haven’t done so already as the last date for posting will be December 17.
The collection points are Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Far From the Madding Crowd, Fair Tradewinds, Wilson’s Newsagents, Walker’s Carpets and Spar in Springfield.
In preparation for the monumental operation the group has been training hard for the massive delivery, posting 2500 Christmas Service Cards for St Ninian’s church in 90 minutes.
