Six-week delays during bridge closure

Roads contractor Amey is will be carrying out waterproofing and resurfacing works on the gateway over the River Forth from next Friday.

The work will be done on three spans of the A985 bridge with phase one beginning on the southbound lane which will close at 9pm on July 1 for three weeks with vehicle flows being regulated by temporary traffic management.

When the southbound works are complete, the temporary traffic management will then switch to the northbound lane for another three weeks.

Amey say drivers can expect minimal delays of up to 15 minutes at peak times and are encouraged to plan their journey in advance and visit www.trafficscotland.org for real-time traffic information on the days they are travelling.

the pedestrian footways and cycle paths will remain open throughout the duration of the works.

The work will include replacement of the road surface, bridge deck waterproofing and new expansion joints to the viaduct span section of the bridge, north of the swing span.

The maintenance programme has been planned in consultation with Falkirk Council, Fife Council, Clackmannanshire Council, Stirling Council, Police Scotland and Traffic Scotland. The works will cost £215,000.
