Skye Donaldson

THE DETAILS: Skye Donaldson was born in Forth Valley Royal Hospital on December 29, 2016 at 12:55pm, weighing 7lbs 15oz.

THE PARENTS: Mum Ailie (31) is a writer and dad Andy (28) is a chemistry teacher at Linlithgow Academy. Skye is the couple’s first child and the family live in Bainsford, Falkirk.

THE PREGNANCY: Ailie said it was brilliant all the way through, she didn’t even have morning sickness and was able to keep fit. However, she took a turn for the worse in the last week when she developed HELLP syndrome - a variant of preeclampsia.

THE BIRTH: Ailie was in labour for 16 hours and had to have an emergency c-section under general anaesthetic, meaning she wasn’t awake during the birth. She said she can’t remember the first time she held Skye.

THE NAME: The couple wanted to choose a Scottish name which was something a bit different.

THE BABY: Ailie said the baby is doing great and likes listening to music. She has slept all the way through the night since she was six weeks old and smiles in the morning.

THE GRANDPARENTS: Skye is the first grandchild of proud grandparents Jim and Christine Wallace and Lynn and Allan Donaldson – both from Alloa.
