Daniel's heading to the USA

The 18 year old from Linlithgow is part of the Sporting Futures USA elite student athlete programme and has landed himself a dream move to The University of Campbellsville, which is located in the US state of Kentucky.

Daniel feels that his time in the states will benefit his career development on and off the football field and is excited at the prospect of full-time football combined with a
degree in business management.

He said: “Funnily enough it was my senior team involvement at Stenhousemuir FC that made me consider the states.

‘‘Campbellsville University has a top class reputation for athletic standards with their sports teams being ranked 1-10 in the nation and the
exposure to a full-time training environment will certainly help my aspirations of becoming a full-time professional player further down the line when I graduate.”

Daniel flies to Kentucky for pre-season training with his new team on August 6.

He said: ‘‘I started playing for BFC Linlithgow when I was six years old. My two brothers played and my dad loved the sport.

‘‘I fell in love with football at that stage and it was kind of like an addiction to me from the start. I went on to play pro youth for a few clubs and eventually signed a contract with Stenhousemuir FC.

‘‘I also captained my school football team, Linlithgow Academy, to a Scottish Cup Final and helped them pick up numerous other trophies during my time there” .

Sporting Futures USA’s David Binnie added: “Daniel is a terrific lad who I have high hopes for. His commitment to both his studies and his football will stand him in good stead for his new career.”
